Father’s Day is nearly here! You’ve got the card, you’ve got the present, but now, what to do? There are plenty of activities that you and Dad (and even the family) can join in on this June 21. Whether you want a free day or to splurge a little, here are a few of the great Father’s Day activities going on in Reno.
This Father’s Day is the perfect time to treat Dad to the summer sun and fresh air while working on his swing. Head down to the Washoe County Golf Course, where Dad can play free (with one other paying adult) from noon to 6 p.m. Get more information about the Father’s Day event at Washoe County Golf Course.
One of the most popular ways to explore Reno and enjoy family time is to raft the Truckee River. If you’ve never done it before, head down to the Truckee River Raft Co. to rent rafts and lifejackets before spending quality time with Dad tubing or rafting down Truckee River. There are several places where you can start your rafting or tubing, but we love Mayberry Park, which offers many quiet and shallow areas for you to spend the day, or head to the Reno Riverwalk, which offers popular spots for rafting, tubing, or swimming in the river.
We love everything in moderation, and we also love indulging once in awhile. Treat Dad to a break from the summer heat by heading indoors to watch a movie. Take it up a notch by heading to Spark’s new IMAX theater, where we hear Jurassic Park is all but taking over the place. The best part is, you can choose the best seats ahead of time–so you can get them now and relax later. And why not get some popcorn while you’re at it? (Just hold the butter!)
If your dad is a rodeo buff, then Father’s Day at the Reno Rodeo is the best place to be! Let your Dad take a look at the calendar of events to make sure he doesn’t miss out on any of the bull riding, muttin’ bustin’, or barrel racing, and a special Father’s Day event. Invite family and friends over and surprise Dad by firing up the grill and cooking up some great BBQ. Don’t know how? Here are pro tips. Ask everyone to bring one of Dad’s (or their father’s) favorite dishes. And if you want to keep the meat light, try one of these turkey burgers!
