Christmas Tree Recycling

This year, don’t throw your tree away! Instead, try Christmas Tree Recycling!

Each year, thousands of Christmas trees are thrown into landfills or illegally dumped throughout the city.

This year, we’re encouraging you to make a difference by recycling your tree, instead. The recycling program begins December 26, 2014 and continues through January 11, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A $3 donation is requested to support this program, and, the NV Energy Foundation will match the amount of recycling donations.

Natural trees with all ornaments and light strands removed may be taken to the following facilities:

Besides helping the environment and community, there are many other benefits to recycling your Christmas tree. After being mulched by chipper machines, local parks, residents and landscapers use the resulting product to help:

  • Prevent Erosion
  • Weed abatement
  • Landscaping walkway and paths
  • Animal bedding
  • Insect deterrent
  • Protect and foster growth of certain plants
  • Insulate soil
  • Playgrounds

Plus, residents can get free mulch through the end of January.
